Homecoming '06

Georgia Tech's 2006 Crew Homecoming Tailgating Experience.
A thanks goes out to the team, let's work together next year to make the event bigger and better!!

Alumni Laura (Sassaman) Solomon with her daugher, Gwyneth, tailgating before the game! Laura's husband, Perry, did the fly-over in the jets at kick off!

Alumni Melissa (Deen) Hallow and her husband, Danny, show off their lovely daugher Ana to other alumni, Beth (Burnham) Goldstein! (well, dang - is everyone married?)

One final shot of the alumni at the first of hopefully an annual tailgating event at the 2006 Homecoming game at GT. From left to right, sort-of: baby Ana Hallow, Danny Hallow, Melissa Hallow, Betsy Carter, Steven Siebert, Cassi Niemann, Renee Butler, Ethan Johnson, Beth Goldstein, Craig Goldstein, Mike Smith, Sarah Kimbrough, Will Kimbrough, Jim Kowalski, Shelly Holdren, Bart DeBacker.

Not pictured but present at the event were: Catherine Owens, Carol Sikes, Katherine Clarke, Joshua Vose, Slim Jim Price, Laura Solomon, Elizabeth Henry and many other current rowers!!

See you next year!!

Where are the "old" alumni?

I was standing around at the tailgating event, when I overheard Theresa (hopefully Theresa Mara, the alumni relations officer, won’t mind me poking a little fun) saying that she had seen a lot of “really old alumni” there. I looked around and didn’t see anyone who started rowing before I did & realized she must be talking about me. When did I become “really old alumni” and where are my comrades who can at least protect me from being the only one?!?!?! Those of you who know who I am, you must be really old too, but please come to the alumni events. We want to see you, too!

True, but often there isn't anyone older than me. Thanks for carrying the "really old" torch!

I love the "old" alumni (I had already had a few beers)! So glad you came Renee (and that goes for everyone else too). I'm going to work on making sure this happens every year.

Sorry I couldn't make it. I was really sad not to be there - but I heard it was a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone at the next alumni function....oh wait...that's erg sprints....alumni I want you to help the day of and you'd better believe this isn't the last you will hear from me about it! Cassi, Beth and Craig have stepped up...will you? (More old school GT Crew slang to get you to help with the Feb 10th erg sprints to come...)

Sorry I missed this!! I was out of town... but looks like you all had a good time. Renee, I'll back you up on the "old" alumni thing next time. Ha!

PS - Dr. Butler, to make you feel even more old... current GT rowers were born AFTER the movie "Top Gun" was made!!! ACK!

I would've helped out, but that weekend had already been designated as the... appointed time... for the First-Ever HQT Summit in Austin or San Diego-- that is, until Vose bailed and decided to go to Old-n-Dirty Alumni Homecoming, which I would have traveled to if I had not blocked out the w/e for HQT. Anyhow, yeh. Glad it was tight, and I'll keep you company next time Renee, even if I'm not quite as old... !
