Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon

Hey GT Crew Members and Alumni,

I am planning on running the Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon. I wanted
to let everyone I know about it so they could all meet up and run it
together or race each other. This is a big deal for my family, as this
was a tradition for my dad and I. We got at least one of my other
brothers in and it would be awesome to have some friends as well as
other family run it with us. We are unofficially going to run as Team
Mike.

The long version

Dear Georgia Tech Crew Alumni,

Traditionally, homecoming is a time for alumni, family & friends to come back to their alma mater and once again enjoy the fellowship that was often taken for granted during the "best days of our lives." This year, we would like to bring some new life to that tradition which seems to get less recognition every year. We cordially invite you, your family (old & new) and friends to join us Saturday, October 20, 2007 for a GT Crew Alumni Tailgate Party! Stay afterwards to watch your Yellow Jackets beat up on Army (tickets still available at www.ramblinwreck.com).
Come spend the afternoon catching up with former teammates and reliving the stories from our glory days that only we can truly appreciate. From 2k's to 5k's, from Beach Olympics to Chessesteaks, from the Crew House to the Boat House to PapaJohn's House, from our first water practice to now. If the stories are not motivation alone, come by for your fill of burgers, hot dogs, chips, desserts... and of course no crew party is complete without an insulting amount of beer. All that we ask of you is a MINIMUM donation to the team of $20 per person. (For the vast majority of us, that is $20 more then we have already donated this year, and possibly $20 more then we donated since graduation.)
The GT rower life is a busy one that involves a lot of commitment and sacrifices. Once we graduate, that usually translates into an even busier daily life of commitments and responsibilities. Face it, its just the kind of people we are! But I encourage all of you to not let your daily grind keep you from remembering and celebrating what life as a rower meant to you and how it shaped who you are today. If you cannot make our shindig (a little short notice for the out of town folk), go and put it on your calendar for next year. After you finish that, go to www.gtcrew.com, check out what the team has been up to and make a donation as if you were coming. It's online, its easy. Do it.
For those of you that can make it, we cannot wait to see you there! Call your former hammer in 5 seat, email your former coxswain you threw in the river, and text that guy or gal that used to do your toga for you. I assure you good times will be had by all. Until then, if you have any questions, let us know.

Stay in touch & continue to support the team!
